How is Young Shower Screens different to other shower screen companies? Traditionally, the shower screen industry works around custom frameless shower screens. An installer will measure your bathroom, give a quote on a fully custom shower screen, order the glass and install the custom panels. Tailor made shower screens are expensive compared to bulk productions. So today, Young Shower Screens imports large quantities of premium quality toughened safety glass, pre-cut, pre-drilled, packaged neatly into boxes and stored at our warehouse ready for installation. We call these pre-made glass panels our stock panels. Buying our stock panel shower screens is where you will save the most on costs. At Young Shower Screens we have many designs and sizes to suit your needs. Contact us for a free quote over the phone today! Step 1 : Bathroom and Shower Screen Renovation Planning Whether you're planning a bathroom renovation or just replacing an old or broken shower screen, you will need to know your bathroom layout and the type of shower screen design that best suits your needs. Keep in mind that frameless shower screens require doors to swing outwards. This means you need to allow room for the door to swing open. In "Step 2 : Choosing the Right Shower Screen Design for You", you will see the shower screen base layouts, on the diagrams the door swing arc is drawn, giving you the information required to plan your renovation.

Custom or Standard Shower Screens :You will need to do some wall measurements of your shower screen base and compare these measurements with our standard packages online. The walls and floors will need to be straight to use the standard packages. If you can use one of our standard packages, these shower screen packages will give you the most savings. If you cannot use our standard packages or the walls and floors are not tiled straight, then you may need to customize. Rest assured that with Young Shower Screens, we will do our best to lower your cost even with custom panels. We can lower your cost if we can use our stock panels e.g. stock door panel and customize the remaining panels. For customizing panels, here are some useful hints to keep your cost as low as possible: - Use our standard door with measurement 600mm x 1973mm.
- Use our standard height of 2000mm.
Step 3 : Designing your Floor and Water Proofing Membrane By now you should have a good idea on how you want your new bathroom to be. If you are redoing the tiles and flooring for the shower screen, you will need to consider what type of flooring your frameless glass shower screen will sit on. Generally frameless glass shower screens sit best on tiled floors. You will need to discuss this with your tiler, whether you will be using a hob (raised or sunken), recess, hob-free flat floor, fall to waste floor, etc. If you are planning on installing a standard shower screen, you can download the theoretical base layout, which includes measurements and illustrates the shower screen panel layout. We use the term 'theoretical' because these drawings assume that your walls are at perfect right angles from each other and that the panels once installed are at perfect right angles to the walls. However in reality the job site is never at perfectly right angles. You can then show the base layout diagrams to your tiler to plan the flooring. Please note these diagrams do not illustrate the size of the hob, it only shows the positions of where the glass panels will sit on the floor. If your flooring is flat or is fall to waste, you will need to plan where the upturn of your waterproofing membrane will sit. The upturn should sit directly underneath the glass panels e.g. between the internal (from the opposite wall to the inner edge of the glass panel) and external (from the opposite wall to the outer edge of the glass panel) measurements. Again, download the theoretical base layout and discuss the issue with your tiler. In general, once your flooring is installed, the upturn will protrude above the tiles. You will need to trim the upturn flush with the floor tiles so the shower screen panels will then sit directly above the upturn.
More information regarding hob designs Step 4 : Completing Your Bathroom Renovations and Installing Your Shower Screen Once you know what type of shower screen you are after and you require a custom shower screens, you can contact us for a free quote over the phone. We then recommend a professional shower screen installer to measure your bathroom before you order your custom shower screen. Once glass goes through the toughening process you cannot cut it again because that will cause the entire glass to shatter, which is why measurements will need to be to the precise to the millimeter. Hint: use our standard 600mm x 1973mm door panel for greater savings.
However, if you are planning to install one of our standard shower screens, you will need to check a couple of details beforehand: - Check your walls are relatively straight. It is very rare that your walls will be absolutely plumb, if your walls are off plumb by 3mm then your situation is excellent and your installed shower screen will look great. If your walls are off plumb by 5mm you will need to pack more silicon between the wall and glass panel to cover the excess gap. However, if your walls are off plumb by more than 5mm, then you will probably need to consider customizing a panel to follow the slant of your wall.
- Check that your floor, hob or recess measurements still meets the base measurement requirements of the shower screen. If they don't, you will need to consider customizing one or two panels.
