It depends on the model shower screen. Some shower screens has the door hinged off the wall, it is not necessary to use the Support Bar or the Corner Bracing Shelf. Other models have a door hinged off another fixed panel of glass, with these models we highly recommend you do choose the Support Bar System or the Corner Bracing Shelf. This depends on whether safety or style is your number priority. For safety purposes we recommend the Support Bar, whereas if you are looking for style many will choose a Corner Bracing Shelf. The Support Bar offers more stability than the Corner Bracing Shelf. The Support Bar is designed for people who are greatly concerned about safety, its design is suitable for families with younger children who are not aware of the risk factors when playing around glass. Alternatively, the Corner Bracing Shelf complements well with the frameless shower screen and gives extra storage space to place your shampoos and conditioners. | | Installation Information | | |
For best installation results your walls and floors need to be as close to an ideal condition as possible. Walls and floors are in an ideal condition when they are straight (no curvature), your walls are plumb (perpendicular to the floor), and your floor is level (horizontal). If your walls and floors are not in an ideal condition, it is best that you consider a custom designed shower screen.
Often walls and floors are not in the perfect ideal condition. This means, the greater the deviation of the wall or floor from the ideal condition, the greater the gap between the glass panels and your wall or floor. If you are in the process of renovating your bathroom, make sure you inform your renovator to prepare the walls and floors in an ideal condition as best they can. Generally your walls or floor should be off plumb or level (respectively) by less than 5mm. | | Return to Top |

It also specifies that safety glass may be used up to a maximum size for a specific thickness. This ensures that the application of glass stays within the designed stress limits of the safety glass. For example, a single panel of: 10mm thick safety glass may be used up to a maximum area of 6.0m², or 8mm thick safety glass may be used up to a maximum area of 4.5m², or 6mm thick safety glass may be used up to a maximum area of 3.0m². Also that the safety glass produces desirable fracture characteristic, the glass must fragment into a minimum number of pieces per square inch to avoid any serious injury to a person in the event of an accident, otherwise you may receive some serious cuts. For example, safety glass must have a surface compression of NOT less than 68.94 MPa, and edge compression of NOT less than 66.87 MPa.
