Do I need to use a Support Bar or a Corner Bracing Shelf?

It depends on the model shower screen. Some shower screens has the door hinged off the wall, it is not necessary to use the Support Bar or the Corner Bracing Shelf. Other models have a door hinged off another fixed panel of glass, with these models we highly recommend you do choose the Support Bar System or the Corner Bracing Shelf.

Which is better the Support Bar or the Corner Bracing Shelf?

This depends on whether safety or style is your number priority. For safety purposes we recommend the Support Bar, whereas if you are looking for style many will choose a Corner Bracing Shelf. The Support Bar offers more stability than the Corner Bracing Shelf. The Support Bar is designed for people who are greatly concerned about safety, its design is suitable for families with younger children who are not aware of the risk factors when playing around glass. Alternatively, the Corner Bracing Shelf complements well with the frameless shower screen and gives extra storage space to place your shampoos and conditioners.

How do I minimize the water from leaking outside of my frameless shower screen?

Due to the nature of frameless shower screens, creating a completely water tight seal is impossible. There will always be gaps between and around glass panels. However if you do experience excessive water leakage, additional PVC/Vinyl Profiles are available for purchase which will help to minimize the leakage.

Custom Shower Screens
What do you classify as a custom shower screen?
We considers custom shower screens as a design which requires custom panels, which are panels that must be ordered from a local glass manufacturer. Therefore we try to minimize the cost of your custom shower screen by using as many of our stock panels. Stock panels are prefabricated panels, which are produced at large quantities and then imported and stored at our warehouse, where as custom panels need to be ordered from a local Sydney glass toughening plant.

Can you supply custom frameless shower screens?
We can also supply custom frameless shower screens. Currently, we only service Sydney Metropolitan areas for custom shower screens. The lead (manufacturing) time for custom panels is approximately 10 working days.

Why are custom shower screens more expensive than the shower screens you offer as standard packages?
Generally, custom shower screens are more expensive because cutting non-standardised glass panels is a very labor intensive process, and therefore incur high overheads. Whereas our stock panels are manufactured using machinery, which can be produced at a quicker rate with less overheads.

Can I cut safety glass from your shower screen packages to suit my bathroom?
No, you cannot cut safety glass. Once float (normal) glass has gone through the toughening process it is set. You cannot cut or drill the glass panel without breaking it.

Installation Information
What condition do I need my walls and floor need to be?
For best installation results your walls and floors need to be as close to an ideal condition as possible. Walls and floors are in an ideal condition when they are straight (no curvature), your walls are plumb (perpendicular to the floor), and your floor is level (horizontal). If your walls and floors are not in an ideal condition, it is best that you consider a custom designed shower screen.

Often walls and floors are not in the perfect ideal condition. This means, the greater the deviation of the wall or floor from the ideal condition, the greater the gap between the glass panels and your wall or floor. If you are in the process of renovating your bathroom, make sure you inform your renovator to prepare the walls and floors in an ideal condition as best they can. Generally your walls or floor should be off plumb or level (respectively) by less than 5mm.

How should I design my hob?

If you are planning to use a hob for your shower enclosure, you may need to consider some issues. Some of the shower screen models use floor brackets, check the individual listing's product description to see whether the shower screen model uses any floor brackets.

Scenario:
The listing states that the shower screen has inner dimensions of 900x900mm. Lets assume you design your hob at 900x900mm, and the shower screens product description states that this particular model use floor brackets. Therefore when installing the shower screen, the floor bracket does not have any solid material to be screwed into.
Solution 1:
You allow for a minimum of 50mm to allow enough space for the floor bracket to screw into your floor. Therefore, you design your hob to be 850x850mm. This is, in our opinion, the best solution.
Solution 2:
You install the bracket so that the main leg plate is installed on the outside of your shower enclosure.
Solution 3:
There are alternate floor brackets available, with a short leg which runs underneath the glass panel. Note: this solution raises the glass by 3mm.

Australian Standards
What are the Australian Standards?
We take particular care to ensure that our products are safe to use and that they comply with the Australian Standards.
AS1288   states that frameless shower screens need to use Safety Glass, also known as Grade A safety glazing materials. It also specifies that safety glass may be used up to a maximum size for a specific thickness. This ensures that the application of glass stays within the designed stress limits of the safety glass. For example, a single panel of: 10mm thick safety glass may be used up to a maximum area of 6.0m², or 8mm thick safety glass may be used up to a maximum area of 4.5m², or 6mm thick safety glass may be used up to a maximum area of 3.0m². AS2208   states that safety glass need to be hardened to a particular quality. Also that the safety glass produces desirable fracture characteristic, the glass must fragment into a minimum number of pieces per square inch to avoid any serious injury to a person in the event of an accident, otherwise you may receive some serious cuts. For example, safety glass must have a surface compression of NOT less than 68.94 MPa, and edge compression of NOT less than 66.87 MPa. As a comparison, normal float glass has a surface compression of less than 24.14 MPa.Certified Product Stamp
